Sometimes, trying to fix a small bug exposes a big one.
Patch 9 is going to be a little more intense than expected. Here's what's going on with that:
- A new ship is being added!
As you might have noticed from the wallpaper, we're deep into "adding content" zone on Smugglers. This is excellent news, of course. All the specifics and details about this ship will be revealed in due time, of course. But it brings us to point 2:
You all are well aware that I've been chasing handling problems with the la libélula class ships for quite some time - ever since Patch 5, in fact. I had hoped to narrow it down to something minor and tune it, but it turned out to be a fairly fundamental flaw from my UE4 port. I simply designed the ship controller incorrectly when I used the UE4 methodology on Godot.
Unfortunately, that's not going to be an easy fix. I'm working on it, and hopefully all the ships will soon be handling much better.
It's important for me to get the controller remapping into the settings menu, and the settings menu more accessible in game (it's a bit hard to reach right now behind F1), but it's proven to be a tough nut to crack.
We're working through out mission backlog right now, having realized that our way of documenting the missions was woefully inadequate to describe the neat stuff we wanted to do. We have a new tool for documentation, and hopefully it'll work better.
Have no fear! I haven't vanished, and I'm working away on this stuff as hard as my bill-paying job permits. Thank you, as always, for your patience.
