Catching up:
Patch 9, as you know, was a bit delayed when I realized I had to redo the entire ship handling system. Sometimes, tech debt from UE4 is still lurking out there and you never even realize it. Suffice it to say, every ship now has a unique tunable handling model, so it won't matter if it's a tiny skiff or a Commodore class behemoth, it can now have totally unique tuning.
There's a LOT slated for the next patch, and I need to spend some serious cockpit time in some other space games to make sure the new controls and the new landing feels just right.
Fixes and improvements in this patch :
- New ship handling model.
- Dramatically improved how ships are loaded, improving speed in the ship shopper and reducing overall memory usage.
- Basic settings menu added to start screen.
- Loads of work is being done to get the intro cleaned improved, tutorial WIP.
- Apple Universal binary up on Itch, looking for some people who can test that.
- Performance enhancements.
Known Bugs:
- There are some visual bugs in the ship chooser.
- No dev account for Apple, so the binary may complain.
- The cockpit on the Nephthys is very rough still.
On the Roadmap:
- Next up the focus will be on the new control scheme. Make sure to vote!
- Working on getting the new tutorial intro in place. This will take a while!
- Another ship is in the pipeline to be added, and it's a very large one indeed.
- New camera work for cockpit flight.
- New landing mechanism being worked on.
