Steam Poll

As of now, steam continues to refuse to pay us for non-US sales, and has for a couple years now. The amount just slowly climbs, well over a grand now. They've even stopped paying us for the sales in USD as well. We've gone back and forth with them about it endlessly, and all they've done is spin red tape and long delays.

I'm placing a poll up on the forum for members/backers to vote on withdrawing Smugglers from Steam. It will continue to be available on Itch, as well as other options as they present themselves.

So please give it a vote, and we'll go with what the backers want. Thank you so much, and thank you for backing our projects over the years.

Happy Holidays!

Aside from Itch, our primary sales site, are there other places where you’d like to see Smugglers available?

While I’ll be sad to see it gone from Steam, if they’re not paying, there’s no reason to stay there. Itch is a no-brainer. GOG would be nice, but I can’t imagine how many hoops we’d need to jump through to be on there…

Who else? Epic? Nobody I know has ever spent any money there, and they’re just waiting for the platform to fail under the weight of their own freebies. EA? Just no. Ubisoft? No thanks. Windows Store? Wouldn’t touch it with a ten foot pole. Apple App Store? For Mac OS, sure, but it’s leaving out 98% of people (the lack of real competition is good, though).

Steam has, for better or worse, become the defacto standard for digital games distribution on Windows and Linux. The very monopoly Valve tried to escape in the first place…

Very unfortunate. It’s always the small creators fed into the fires of commerce.
